Use case · Conversion

Make one last offer before they close the tab.

Exit intent is the cheapest conversion you own — the visitor is already there. Hamla reads the leave signal and shows the one thing most likely to keep them.

Detect the leave signal

01

Cursor to the tab bar, a back gesture, or a stall after real engagement. Hamla distinguishes leaving from idling.

Website
Hamla waits — and skips ahead if the customer responds

Match the offer to the page

02

Checkout gets shipping reassurance. A product page gets the size guide. Pricing gets the objection answered. One generic popup everywhere converts nobody.

Ask for the smallest thing

03

If they won't buy today, take the contact detail — that turns a lost session into a welcome series you can follow up on.

Respect the no

04

Dismissed once means don't ask again this session, and cap it per contact. An exit popup that reappears is why people install blockers.

Leaving pricing → free first session → calendar link in the popup.

Exit intent questions.

Does exit intent work on mobile?

There's no cursor to track, so mobile uses different signals — back gesture, rapid upward scroll, or a stall after engagement. Expect it to fire less often and less precisely than on desktop.

Do exit popups hurt SEO?

Not when they fire on exit. Google penalises interstitials that block content on arrival, especially on mobile — an exit-triggered popup appears after the visitor has read the page, so it falls outside that.

Should the exit offer always be a discount?

No. The most effective exit offers answer the objection tied to that page — delivery time, return policy, sizing. Save the discount for where you know price is the blocker.
